MLB umpire Joe West might not be afraid of the coronavirus, but he found out the hard way on Thursday afternoon that there were other dangers to his health on a baseball field.

West was in the side of the head with a bat and immediately started bleeding out of or around his left ear.  It all went down in the bottom of the first inning of the Nationals and Blue Jays game.

Toronto's Bo Bichette either lost the grip on his bat during his swing, or West was setup too close to him behind the plate.  The sound of the bat catching West is eerily loud.

West had to leave the game for some medical attention.  Despite the fact that he's a terrible umpire, I hope he's okay.
