A Thrown Shoe by a Florida Defender Helped Setup LSU’s Game Winning Field Goal

LSU is far from the undefeated team that won a National Championship last season.  The Tigers entered Saturday's game against No. 6 Florida with a 3-5 record.

Despite their record, LSU came ready to play.  Thanks to a costly Florida penalty late in the 4th quarter they ended up walking away with a three point victory.

The penalty is one of the dumbest you will ever see.  After a stop by the Florida defense on a third and long, defensive back Marco Wilson picked up a shoe that had been knocked off the runner and threw it.

Wilson was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct and instead of a punt, LSU's drive continued.  The drive ended with a 57-yard game winning field goal.

Marco Wilson's penalty cost the Gators more than a game.  Their shot at the playoffs went flying down the field with the shoe.
