Baker Mayfield’s Contract Holding Up Trade, Browns Could Keep and Start Him if Deshaun Watson is Suspended

The Browns went hard after Deshaun Watson.  Obviously this didn't sit well with four year starter Baker Mayfield and he requested a trade before Cleveland ended up acquiring Watson.

As of right now Mayfield remains on the Browns roster.  That could be the case when the season starts.

In fact, there's a scenario that could play out where Mayfield starts some games for the Browns this season.  His current salary for 2022 seems to be giving teams a reason to pass on him right now.

I don't know if the hangup is Mayfield’s salary or not, but he's better than any quarterback on the Seahawks and Panthers roster at the moment.  If the point is winning you would think they would figure it out.
