Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship Fighter in a Coma After Taking a Punch to the Throat

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship fighter Francesco Ricchi is in a coma after a fight he ended up winning.  The fight took place last Friday night at BKFC 14 and ended when Ricchi was able to stop Noah Cutter in the third round.

The fight was a brawl that almost ended in the first-round when Cutter knocked Ricchi down.  During that round Ricchi also took a punch to the throat that ended up causing a hematoma on his trachea.

Ricchi is now in a medically induced coma due to bleeding in his lungs from the trachea hematoma.

Somewhere in the first round Cutter accidentally caught Ricchi in the throat with a punch, and while victorious in the fight, this punch caused an injury to Ricchi that nobody expected.

Ricchi is now hospitalized and has been placed in a medically induced coma as he is suffering from bleeding in his lungs which is the result of a hematoma on his trachea, which was injured from the accidentally landed punch from Cutter.

Cutter took to social media to express his thoughts and concerns for his fellow warrior.

Nobody wants to see this happen, but it's one of the risks of combat sports.  Everyone who steps into the ring puts it all on the line.

Hopefully Ricchi makes it through and is able to make a full recovery.
