Britt McHenry is a familiar face to many sports and news fans, known for her sharp commentary and strong on-air presence. An American television personality and former sports reporter, McHenry built a name for herself through high-profile roles at ESPN and Fox News.
Born on May 28, 1986, in Mount Holly Township, New Jersey, McHenry was raised in Satellite Beach, Florida. She developed her competitive edge early, playing collegiate soccer at Stetson University. After graduating magna cum laude in 2007, she pursued journalism at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism—one of the top programs in the country.
McHenry’s career in broadcasting began at WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C., and included a stint at Fox Sports San Diego. Her big break came in 2014 when she joined ESPN as a Washington-based correspondent. During her time there, she appeared on programs like SportsCenter and NFL Live. However, in 2017, she was laid off as part of a broader company restructuring.
In 2018, she transitioned into political commentary, joining Fox News as a contributor on its streaming platform, Fox Nation. This move expanded her reach beyond sports and into cultural and political commentary.
Controversy struck in 2015 when a video surfaced showing McHenry in a heated exchange with a towing company employee. The incident led to a one-week suspension from ESPN. McHenry later stated the footage was edited and expressed regret over her behavior.
In 2019, she made headlines again—this time for filing a sexual harassment lawsuit against Fox News and her former co-host George “Tyrus” Murdoch. The lawsuit, which included allegations of inappropriate behavior and retaliation, was settled in 2021. McHenry left the network not long after.
In a deeply personal turn, McHenry revealed in February 2020 that she had been diagnosed with a brain tumor. She underwent surgery the following month to remove a grade 2 astrocytoma. Since then, she has used her platform to raise awareness about brain health and the challenges of recovery.
Today, Britt McHenry continues her work in media, currently hosting a show on WTTG Fox 5 in Washington, D.C. Beyond broadcasting, she remains active in advocacy and public speaking, using her experience to highlight resilience, accountability, and the importance of health awareness but most importantly...hot selfies.
