Montreal Canadiens forward Jake Evans was stretchered off the ice at the end of Game 1 of their second-round series against the Winnipeg Jets.  He was knocked out cold by a dirty hit from Jets center Mark Scheifele.

Scheifele was ejected for the devastating hit that came as Evans was scoring an empty net goal.  Evans was down on the ice for several minutes before being placed on a stretcher.

That's setting a tone for a playoff series.  Probably not the right one, but you can't unring Evans' bell.  Scheifele will likely be suspended for his efforts.

This series will be one to keep an eye on for sure.
