The leaders of the Power Five conferences met over the weekend to discuss canceling the College Football season this fall.  This meeting took place as players took to social media to beg the leaders to allow them to play.

The biggest star in College Football, Trevor Lawrence, was one of the loudest when it came to allowing the season to continue.  He laid out some fair points as to why the season shouldn't be canceled.

Despite the plea from the players, the rumors are that the Big Ten has already voted to cancel the season and will make the announcement as early as Tuesday.  Many of the other Power Five conferences are expected to follow them.

From Detroit Free Press:

The Big Ten has voted to cancel the 2020 college football season in a historic move that stems from concerns related to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, multiple people with knowledge of the decision confirmed to the Free Press.

The sources requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly on the decision. A formal announcement is expected to Tuesday, the sources said.

The presidents voted, 12-2, Sunday to end the fall sports in the conference.

This is terrible news.  Fuck anyone who is rooting for the season to be canceled.  Anyone who is claiming this is in the name of safety is out of their minds.

They play football!

They're already putting their lives on the line.  Life has risks and if they're willing to take those risks they should be allowed to do so.
