I don't know if you heard the news that Jake Gyllenhaal has been cast as Patrick Swayze in the modern take on the late 80s classic a lot of us grew up on. I mean, it was the movie that made the ripping out throats in a fight mainstream, wasn't it?

As a lifelong Swayze fan, the kind of guy who almost shed a tear when he died of pancreatic cancer, who still watches Ghost once a year, Point Break 2 times a year and Dirty Dancing pretty much monthly - it's got a great sound track, I am a firm believer in "Leave Road House Alone".

As a lifelong critic and hater of Jake Gyllenhaal, where every movie he is in makes me angry because he is in it. Never starring in anything I thought was good, even if it was critically acclaimed, because his spoiled brat face was in it. I've heard stories of his tantrums, stories from girls who know him, and he's just bad energy

Meaning, I think he was the wrong man for the job, but also think the job shouldn't exist because we can just watch the original!

Since my opinion doesn't matter and doesn't influence Hollywood decision makers looking for the next cash grab, it is still happening and the more interesting cast member, one you'd want to be in a fight filled rowdy bar south of the Mason-Dixon, is Conor McGregor.

The MMA Superstar is a natural on camera, half his career has been him being hilarious, scandalous, ridiculous on camera, so it will be fun to see if he can transition that into mainstream acting.

If he can, we could be dealing with another fighter to become an action star, like Van Dame or Segal. I think the world is ready for those 90s good times for a modern era!

His PR spokesperson Karen Kessler, said:

"Conor McGregor is very excited to expand his storied career to Hollywood and join with Jake Gyllenhaal in this reimagining of Road House, a beloved classic. While fighting remains his top focus, this is the beginning of another successful venture in the McGregor empire. He is eager to start filming"

Here's that iconic Swayze fight scene:
