J.J. McCarthy is the starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings and one of the NFL’s most talked-about young talents.
Born on January 20, 2003, in La Grange Park, Illinois, the 6-foot-3, 219-pound star made a name for himself at the University of Michigan, where he led the Wolverines to a perfect 15–0 season and a national championship in 2023.
The Vikings picked him 10th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, but his rookie year was cut short by a torn meniscus.
Now fully recovered, McCarthy is gearing up to lead the team in the 2025 season. Head coach Kevin O'Connell has backed him fully, praising his leadership skills and deep understanding of the offense.
Off the field, McCarthy is just as grounded. He’s engaged to his high school sweetheart, Katya Kuropas.
More importantly, McCarthy’s proving he’s got elite accuracy on and off the field, because he didn’t just hit the target, he put one right in the womb.
He and his fiancée, Katya Kuropas, are expecting their first baby this September and did a cheesy photoshoot to celebrate love and a commitment to each other through breeding.
