SJ - July 2, 2021

Kennesaw State University quarterback Ladarius Clardy was shot and killed early Thursday morning.  The 18-year-old was the driver of a vehicle that received over 50 rounds.

The car was found crashed in a ditch after the shooting.  A passenger in the vehicle was taken into surgery.

From PNJ:

A 2020 Pine Forest graduate, Clardy was found dead with several gunshot wounds early Thursday in a car that crashed into a large ditch near the intersection of Fairfield Drive and Hollywood Avenue. His 19-year-old passenger, whose name has not been released, was injured in the shooting and taken into surgery Thursday.

ECSO deputies responded after midnight Thursday to the crash. More than 50 rounds were fired into Clardy's car, most at the driver's side door, Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons said at a press conference Thursday as he and other officials urged the public to come forward with any relevant information on the case.

You hate to see someone so young have their life cut down so early.

More details about the shooting need to come out, but you hope an athlete with his abilities didn't get caught up in something that was over his head.  Either way it's a real tragedy.
