Christmas fell on a Sunday this year as it does every 7 years or so, so there was no choice but to amplify the spirit of Christmas after Santa's visit with some good old fashioned Christmas themed Sunday Night football.

Apparently, Christmas Day is reserved for NBA games, but this year the NFL got to step up and show the world what sport America is actually into watching to muffle the sounds of sugar high kids running around with their new toys after being stuffed with Christmas cookies, candy canes and other treats, you know when the hard egg nog doesn't quite do the job.

According to NBC SPORTS NFL averaged 21.9 million viewers vs NBA's 4.3 million viewers.

The game breakdown is:

Packers vs Dolphins - 26 million viewers
Broncos vs Rams - 23 million viewers
Buccaneers vs Cardinals - 17 million viwers.

Lakers vs Mavericks - 4.5 million viewers
Bucks vs Celtics - 6 Million viewers
Grizzlies vs Warriors - 5 million viewers
Suns vs Nuggets - 2.5 million viewers.
