Alysha Newman is a Canadian Sports Icon!

She is an Olympic Medal winner, who used her kung fu grip on a pole, something she had plenty of experience with, and vaulted her way into Olympic history.

The Canadian pole vaulter spent years launching herself into the air with what is essentially a giant dildo before finally cashing in at the Paris Olympics, grabbing a bronze medal while setting a Canadian record at 4.85 meters.

Alysha decided to celebrate the way every sports marketing executive secretly wishes their athletes would celebrate. She busted out a victory twerk on the Olympic stage and immediately became one of the most talked-about athletes of the Games. The internet, naturally, lost its collective mind.

Some people were shocked.

Some people were offended.

Most people hit replay.

The best part is that the celebration somehow overshadowed the fact that she became the first Canadian woman ever to win an Olympic medal in pole vault and the country's first Olympic pole vault medalist in over a century. That's an accomplishment that deserves way more attention than a few seconds of celebratory dancing.

Of course, Alysha has never exactly fit into the traditional "quiet athlete" mold.

She's built a huge social media following, understands branding better than most professional athletes, and has figured out something that athletic departments still haven't learned: fans actually enjoy seeing personality. What a concept.

She is also an exclusive content creator, so in being a naughty naughty maple syrup girl, she offended the Olympic committee with her winning twerk.

Well, she's also a model and this is her model shoot, showing her ripped athlete body.

As a Canadian athlete who made history, she is also represented at Canadian sporting events, like the World Cup.

Because she's proud to be a Canadian.
