The Panthers signed former Baylor head coach Matt Rhule to a ridiculous seven-year, $62 million deal less than two seasons ago.  Owner David Tepper is now having second thoughts about the deal, which he offered to Rhule in order to outbid the Giants.

Tepper is reportedly "unhappy and embarrassed" by the signing.  It hasn't resulted in much success on the field and turned the quarterback position into a turnstile.

From The Athletic:

Rhule was hired in Carolina in 2020 after overseeing quick turnarounds at Temple and Baylor, but sources say owner David Tepper is unhappy and embarrassed after the $16 billion hedge fund manager gave Rhule a seven-year, $62 million deal to outbid the New York Giants for his services. Tepper apparently plans to give Rhule a third year, with Rhule saying this week the owner had privately expressed “nothing but confidence about me and the future and moving forward.” But the three-month collapse after a 3-0 start has tested everyone’s patience, with one Panthers source characterizing the team’s regression in Rhule’s second season as “a clusterfuck.”

Apparently Tepper isn't embarrassed enough.  Allowing this shit show to extend into a third season proves that.

Cut your losses now and put some money into an offensive line, because it doesn't matter who is playing quarterback if you can't block long enough for them to attempt a pass.
