The Dodgers Are About to do What the Red Sox Failed to do and Pay Mookie Betts

The Boston Red Sox traded away rightfielder Mookie Betts to the Los Angeles Dodgers this off-season instead of paying him.  This despite the fact that he's only 27 and won the American League MVP award in 2018.

They managed to get rid of David Price and his ridiculous contract in the process, no surprise here Price decided to sit out the shortened 60 game season, but Betts is going to be a huge loss in Boston.

Betts did not sit out and he's about to be locked up by the Dodgers for a long time.  Reports have him receiving a long-term extension worth $380 million.

Now normally I'm not a big fan of the huge multiyear deals.  But Betts isn't like Bryce Harper or Manny Machado, he's actually won a ring to go along with multiple All-Star selections, his MVP and multiple Gold Gloves.

Oh and despite being on the Red Sox to start his career, he doesn't seem to be an asshole either.  Man I'm glad baseball is back.
