Wisconsin quarterback Graham Mertz was on the receiving end of a huge shot to the ribs.  The hit, delivered by a blitzing Michigan defender ended his day in the third quarter.

Mertz stayed down after the hit in pain, but was able to walk off the field under his own power.  He then was checked out in the medical tent before being taken back to the locker room.

Here's the hit.

That had to hurt a little.  Nobody laid a finger on the defender to slow him down.  He went from full sprint to diving to Mertz's ribs with his shoulder.

You have to be tough to play this game.  I wonder if he tried to rub a little dirt on it before leaving the field.  That always seems to help.
