Danny Amendola announced his retirement on Monday night via a tweet from Adam Schefter.  The NFL insider managed to make the announcement without saying anything terrible about the veteran wide receiver or posting anything about any past or present girlfriends.

That's quite the accomplishment for Schefter.  The 36-year-old called a career despite the fact that multiple teams contacted him this offseason.

Amendola later posted confirmation that he was retiring with a highlight reel from his career.  A career that included two Super Bowl victories with the Patriots.

It was time for Amendola to hang it up.  Over the last several seasons his off the field activity was far more entertaining than anything he did on the field.  That's usually a sign that it's time to move on.
